Diagnosis
At the initial visit, we listen attentively to the patient’s entire story. This begins the critical process of tracing and identifying the upstream and causal factors in ongoing pain or dysfunction. After taking in a detailed history, a detailed examination is performed. In some cases, it may be helpful to directly examine the skin, but in most cases, there is no need to remove any clothing, aside from bulky jackets, shoes, and belts. The physical examination involves assessment of standing posture, gait, and joint mobility. We are interested in both the major and minor motions of all joints. Areas of reduced or abnormal neurologic and circulatory funciton are identified as well.
